Wesley Junior College 2009 Graduation Ceremony

The lines of the hymn ‘Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow’ was sung blissfully as Wesley Junior College’s final year students said farewell during the graduation ceremony held on May 16, 2009 at Wesley Methodist church.

Students, parents, families, friends and WJC board and faculty gathered to celebrate a special day in the lives of 32 students.

The opening prayer for the occasion was lead by Rev. Yachelle Watson, Rev. C. David Goff, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Management of WJC, gave the opening remarks. An expressive vocal solo was done by Mr. Lincoln Jones, a second year student of WJC.
Mrs. Audrey Castellanos was the student speaker for the graduation ceremony. She attained the highest GPA in the graduation class and was also contributed to the life of the institution by serving on the Student Government. The guest speaker, Senator Godwin Hulse was introduced by Ms. Jane Wade, the outstanding student in General Studies. The Vote of thanks was done by Ms Kayla Nicholas, the outstanding student in Computer Science. Mr. Rhyan Welch, the outgoing president of the Student Government presented a gift to the Guest Speaker.

Mrs, Arana, in her capacity as Dean, gave the school report, in which she highlighted the Community Service done by the students for the first time in the history of WJC.
The President of WJC, Mrs Brenda Armstrong conferred the Associate degrees on the graduates.
The Guest Speaker, Senator Godwin Hulse, challenged the students to do more than earn a living, but to make a positive difference in their communities.

The pride that the graduates felt in their achievements was clearly seen as they marched up to receive their degrees and awards. This was also evident in the parents, spouses and children of the members of the graduating class.

Congratulations to all our graduates and their families.
